The ICLTD is looking for volunteers who can help with the following projects:
(1) Grant Research and Writing relating to the organization's efforts to obtain operating funds and financial support for individual study programs and its program development.
(2) Accounting and control support relating to an evaluation of the organization's financial position and compliance with state and Federal guidelines.
(3) Fundraising relating to the identification of fund-raising targets and the development of appropriate fundraising materials.
(4) Website forum oversight relating to the development of a public internet forum for discussing contemporary international issues and rendering advice. Volunteers would be involved in supervising the site, reviewing questions posed by visitors and engaging in pertinent research to respond to such questions.
(5) Assistance in developing the ICLTD's Infodat and GRISIRA databases. Volunteers would collect and summarize research materials for purposes of including such summaries in the ICLTD's databank.
(6) Research and writing relating to the publication of the organization publication, The ICLTD Reporter. Volunteers would review and edit articles and participate in short research projects relating to the ICLTD's commentary section.
(7) Participate in the ICLTD's Global Reach Independent Studies Program which would require volunteers to pursue research and writing on a discrete topic of choice concerning a current development or trend in foreign affairs. The work product would be used as the basis for educational materials for a variety of different audiences. Study programs that have already been established that could use volunteer assistance include the Africa Outreach Program and the Canadian-American Studies Series. Persons interested in the laws of war are welcome to contribute to the ICLTD's long-term project to develop educational materials on the Geneva Conventions.
(8) Events development relating to the organization of panel discussions on significant issues concerning international law, trade and diplomacy. Volunteers would identify and locate pertinent speakers and assist in research and correspondence relevant to organizing events.
The ICLTD welcomes the assistance of any member of the public interested in world affairs and global education. Although the skills of university and graduate students are most highly sought, younger volunteers will be reasonably accommodated. Efforts will be made on behalf of student participants to obtain for them course credit for their work with the ICLTD. There are no specific time commitment requirements. Volunteers are, however, expected to work out with the ICLTD a reasonable work schedule that can be adhered to by the volunteer.
