MARCH 3, 1998 BOARD MEETING

The last board meeting of the ICLTD was attended by Robert I. Goodman, Ian Anderson, Taufiq Choudhury and Mark von Sternberg. Robert Rigolosi, a friend of the organization, also attended. The following actions took place.

The December 15, 1997 board minutes were approved.

Timothy Frye and Javed Rahman were elected to the Advisory Council. Mr. Frye is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Ohio State University. Mr. Rahman is a software development engineer at Simon & Schuster based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The President’s Tabulation of Expenses was reassessed resulting in the amendment to Resolution 12, approving expenses in the amount of $4,193.15 and deeming such defrayed expenses a contribution to the organization.

The Board discussed the prospect of organizing a forum in 1998-1999 on weapons proliferation and directed the Executive Director to assess the viability of the project as an effective way of marketing the corporation and to submit a report at the next board meeting.

If any reader would like to review these or any other board minutes, or regulatory documents please submit your request to the ICLTD Office.

The Next Board Meeting:

The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the ICLTD has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 1998 at 6:00 p.m. at the law office of Gersten, Savage, Kaplowitz & Fredericks. All friends of the ICLTD, including advisors and candidates for advisory positions are welcome to attend. Members of the Board of Directors with scheduling conflicts, please contact the ICLTD Office immediately.

Board Expansion As A Goal for 1999:

Over the last year, the ICLTD has been managed by a five member Board of Directors. The proposed objective for the coming year is to expand the Board to better reflect the diversity of the community at large. I anticipate that the Board will be expanded to eight persons, including individuals with expertise in Africa and International Women’s or Family Studies. The Advisory Council is currently comprised of 11 individuals with a variety of business, law, academic and media backgrounds. Francis Arricale, Assistant Vice President of New York Life Insurance Company, who has been very active in developing the Africa Outreach Program, Lee Alan Adlerstein, a partner of Gennet, Kallman, Antin & Robinson, P.C., a law firm based in New York and New Jersey, and Joseph A. Hayden, a lawyer and computer technologist affiliated with the law offices of Laura P. Yellon, have accepted invitations to be presented as candidates for Advisory Council positions at the next ICLTD board meeting.

Although Advisory Council members are extremely busy people, the Council’s over-all level of activity has been relatively high. On behalf of the ICLTD and its Board of Directors, I would like to thank advisors for their efforts and advice on several matters over the past year.
