ICLTD'S HISTORY

The ICLTD was founded in March, 1997 by members of the Committee on Foreign and International Law of the New York County Lawyers' Association, one of New York City's principal Bar Associations with almost 10,000 members. It is, however, a separate organization, with its own administration, projects and goals. The ICLTD is managed by a Board of Directors. The President and Executive Director of the ICLTD oversees its management on a day-to-day basis. The ICLTD has a growing Advisory Council of persons drawn from the fields of law, business, the media and academia.  Since its founding, the ICLTD has promoted a variety of independent study programs for persons interested in the areas of international law, trade and diplomacy. The ICLTD has also pioneered a novel approach to global education centered on encouraging the development of compelling education materials by non-experts interested in promoting public education in the area of world affairs. In the course of its work, the ICLTD has developed working relationships with a variety of organizations, including law schools, bar associations, and governmental and non-governmental international organizations.
